133 million litres were produced in this harvest, and the vegetative cycle of 180 days, cut by spring frosts. Very dry year. Heavy rains during the harvest. Intense incidence of south winds.
Appearance: Clean, bright, medium-low deep, brick red turning into orange glints.
Nose: Intense, very complex, spicy notes (cinnamon and clove), pleasant reminiscences of stewed fruit, long ageing base (cedar) and subtle leathery hints.
Tasting: Mature, fine and silky.
Finish: Long and elegant, notes of dry fruits.
It matches with any kind of meat and mushrooms rice. Some tasty or oily fish such as tuna or cod. Medium-aged cheese such as emmental or gruyere.
